Do you remember the $1,000,000 Dollar Sweepstakes with Ed McMahon? I remember the crazy things people would do to get a chance at winning that sweepstakes, people would rip open there Envelope that always said you could already be a winner. The TV commercials that showed the Price's being giving out with a Super Big Check.
Now that was using a Sweepstakes for the purpose of advertising, and it worked very well. There where many of people who got Magazines that they really did not need, in order to give them self a better chance of winning. I wonder how much money was made off of that?
Was it ethical for Clearing Houses to dangle a Price like that, just to get subscriptions bought? I have often wondered about such the thing and why there is not regulation out there to help those that fall to this kind of advertising. I feel that this is mis-reputation and that it should be a crime to some extent. And maybe others feel the same go to http://www.iowa.gov/government/ag/consumer/press_releases/afp-settlement.html
to read more about it. And finally here to see the outcome http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_hb6398/is_200009/ai_n25594228
